Structure & Function of Hydraulic Shears
While the hydraulic shearing machines can be classified into a number of types, the principal structure and function remain the same.
1. Machine Frame
The frame of a hydraulic shear is welded with a steel plate. This includes the right board, left board, worktable, a fuel tank and clamp holder. A push up mechanism, in the form of a hydraulic cylinder and sliding block guide support installed on either side, controls the clearance of blades. For shearing, the hydraulic hold-down cylinder on the clamping device tightly presses the plate.
2. Blade Holder
The fixed upper blade, in case of an alligator shear is in the scissor motion, is connected with the hydraulic cylinder, pass shear force and allow the cutting function. To realize the positioning of the shear plate size, the back gauge mechanism is also fixed.
3. Shear Blade
Both the upper and lower blades are made of high standard steel and have interchangeable cutting knife, this elongates the life of the blade. The blades can shear steel from low carbon steel to stainless steel sheets.
4. Electric System
The electric system provides the power for the hydraulic shears and supplies control power. The electric system also controls the stroke of the shear blade, the scissor movement of the alligator shear and adjusts the shear angle.
5. Hold-Down Cylinder
To keep the plate from moving while the shearing is done, a hold-down cylinder is adopted to press the plate and to keep it firmly in its place.
6. Hydraulic System
The hydraulic system consists of the main oil pump, hydraulic cylinder, hydraulic pipe and pressure cylinder etc. The shearing pressure for the hydraulic equipment is provided by the hydraulic oil pump. The hydraulic cylinder drives the blade holder movement to enable the shearing function. And the hold-down cylinder presses the work piece to make sure the shearing is done with precision.
7. Plate for Finger Protection
On the machine clamp holder, there is a finger protection plate installed. It is used to control the safe distance of the fingers. The finger protection plate’s distance must meet the mechanical safety standard to ensure safe distance of the fingers.
8. Fuel Tank
Behind the shearing machine, the fuel tank is installed on the oil tank base built. The right side of the tank is equipped with the hydraulic oil and an oil gauge. If you add oil up to the middle level of the gauge, it should be fine. On the left side of the tank is the hydraulic oil pump, the main motor and the hydraulic integrated valve block.
